4,7.... wow, in Chile we don't even feel those. It has to be over 5,0 to be noticed, and over 6,0 for anyone to be worried about it....
for you, this country would be like a huge rollercoaster!!!! xD

Was it Paul that said, "Keep the Traditions, whether by word of mouth or by letter. As a Catholic; (which you once seemed to be) we see the Bible as a spiritual tradition. The letter part. The verbal part Paul mentions was also considered Tradition. And we are not talking about the kind that prompts you to buy a bottle of Blue Nun for a family Christmas get together each year. For example. The name Catholic. St. Ignatius when telling in his Letter to the Symnarians ( on his way to myrterdom) tell them that the way to find the right things to believe in during a very confused time 110 AD, is to look for . Where the Bishop is, there is the Catholic Church. He didn't have to explain "Catholic Church" is was already a common name that had its beginning - like "Christian" - at Antioch. Ignatius was the student of Polycarp who was a Bishop ordained by St John the Apostle. Now we are talking about worrd of mouth (right from the apostles and passed down) Tradition with a big T. Read " the first book of the Trilogy - "The Faith of the Early Fathers" by Jurgens. These "Early Fathers" were the ones who handed down scripture that St Jerome would spend 30 years translating from Greek to Latin which the Catholic Church sifted through and gave us finally in 389 by Pope Damascus the 72 Canonical Books that were declared to be "Holy Scripture ( not the later 66 of the Reformation. Removed by Luther. Who authorized that but Himself?

This was Tradition guided by the Holy Spirit. We have to believe that or the Bible is only a collection of books formed to become a Library (Biblioteche) of ordinary writings by falable men who figured they had it right. The Lord promised he would always be with them. ( Regardless of shaky leaders like St. Peter who denied him 3 times before becoming truly Converted.

Holy Tradition is St Paul preaching all night on the Sabbath - then the Lords Supper or the Mass being said as the sun rose on Sunday Morning. St Paul rails against the taking of the Bread and Wine irreverntly by drunken louts who should leave and eat their meals at home. A worning that threatens sickness and death to those who pervert the taking of the Lords Body and Blood by taking it though unworthy. "Lord I am not worthy - say but the Word and my soul shall be healed" Traditional words said by partakers of the Holy Eucharist. Symbols don't kill. St. Paul threatens death to the unworthy". This is Holy Tradition. Hope this helps.

BTW - a quick addendum to this... one might ask why I attend and enjoy synagogue if my beliefs aren't completely aligned with theirs? Because it's the most closely aligned with my beliefs I've found yet, and one of the best group of Believers I've found. It's joyous, uplifting, with praise and singing and dancing (without being quite so out there as some places), and focuses on scripture rather than tradition. It's the best spiritual home I've found yet. And so the next question might be - well, am I going to be pointing out how "they" are wrong and I'm right in my beliefs? Heck no. I don't know that I AM right, and personally, just because my beliefs aren't the same as another person's doesn't mean they are wrong. And attempting to change a place I enjoy so would result in it no longer being the place I enjoy!

Good stuff, you writing about your car. I have 2 of them, same year, different models. I do have one door handle if you need it. Email me if your interested. If this was last week I could have helped you out with everything you need. I had a 90 XJ6 VDP sitting on jack stands for 3 months until I had the junk man take it away. best of luck, you may have the best time of your life with that XJ.

I played the hell out of that trivia game and was trivia queen a lot of times! How funny to find a reference to good old EF. It brought back all kinds of memories of friendships made and friendships lost. I'm going to have to get more hooked into Twitter to see what it's like. I DO have a social anxiety disorder but would love to find a way to get over it! Cheers!!! I'm @oldstudent on Twitter.

LOL - the trivia module. Had sort of forgotten about that!

Alagash sounds familiar, but I'd be hard pressed to put a face with the name.

When EF was dying I had found a backer interested in helping me buy it out. However, Tim from EF wasn't interested in their terms which would have removed him from control. So instead of getting anything out of it financially, it completely sunk. But that buyout attempt allowed me to get a look at the user list and demographics for EF. IIRC, they had something like 3,600 members. So mentioning EF to a 30-something geek in Wichita runs roughly a 1 in 15 chance or so of them having been a member :-)

When ya' move back be sure to tell @WichitaCindy ;-)

--------

Sign that you're a geek: had a txt conversation on my iPhone with a female friend about Twitter after she listened to my podcast. How many ways do I need to be connected to people? :-)

So instead of getting anything out of it financially, it completely sunk. But that buyout attempt allowed me to get a look at the user list and demographics for EF. IIRC, they had something like 3,600 members. So mentioning EF to a 30-something geek in Wichita runs roughly a 1 in 15 chance or so of them having been a member

When ya’ move back be sure to tell @WichitaCindy

——–

Sign that you’re a geek: had a txt conversation on my iPhone with a female friend about Twitter after she listened to my podcast. How many ways do I need to be connected to people?

Good god, was this a blast from the past.

I was running a club in Old Town and had gotten to be friends with Kevin Kepler from T-95 (What the hell ever happened to him?), and he told me about a new BBS called Elysian Fields. I can't even count the hours I spent playing in the trivia room. I went to a couple of meet-ups, had a great time and met some very nice people (I was Alagash, btw).

As to Twitter, I was an early blogger and a little skeptical as to the point of 140 character posts being useful, but I think I've been converted. I found this post because my girlfriend is a friend of Carmody and I did a search on Twitter for "Donut Whole", found Cindy and then then her link to this post. Behold the power of the Tweet.

I'm moving back to ICT soon, and I'm glad to see there's an active network like this.

Psychology... including Social Psychology. Not sociology. It's not a big deal (to me) to get it wrong but psych faculty & sociology faculty take it all very seriously.
