Absolute genius web comic – and not the funny type either

It’s not often I would refer to a webcomic as genius story telling. In fact, this may be the only time I have – most webcomics are great brain fluff (I have a huge list of comics I hit on a daily basis using Darkgate comic sluper so I hit ’em all at once). But this one is true story telling without reminding me of a wannabe fiction writer’s stuff.
The premise is that it’s 2011, and we’re still fighting in Iraq, and terrorists hit us on home soil again. Jimmy Burns just happens to be at the right place at the right (or wrong) time. Videoblogging seems to have become a big thing in 2011’s age, and his footage showing the attack on US soil (a Starbucks) ends up making him an overnight sensation. One thing leads to another, and he ends up in Iraq covering the war there. I’ll stop there, so I don’t give away anymore of the plotline – that’s just a quick synosis.
The writing is great. The storyline seems to be not only very well done, but very believeable for something that takes place in the future (no new super tech has been pulled out to make the whole thing disrupt the idea that this is the near term future). The art is great. Simply put – nothing like I’d expect for an online graphic novel.
The first 3 chapters are up, though that’s far from the entire story arc. Chapter 4 is supposed to be released sometime tomarrow from what I was reading (I’ll definitely be hitting it to check it out – I’m already hooked

Shooting War
I’m not anti-war enough to protest – there is much value to what we have done, though I disagree with the longer term plan that seems to currently be in motion. Getting in, removing Sadam (who was without any doubt an evil man), and helping to build a new nation is a nobel idea (and, well, one can’t undervalue the need to protect our oil interests really – which is a good portion of the reason we’re there in the first place. Weapons Of Mass Destruction my ass.), but execution leaves a little to be desired. Shooting War shows a potential glimps of a future that seems real enough that it could happen to us – being stuck there bogged down without a good way out, and destablizing the Middle East with our actions in the process to to make things worse.
And a quick comment for any pieceniks out there who say we should have never stepped foot in Iraq because there were no WMD’s – yeah, we should have been there. For that matter, we should have done the job right the first time, wiping Sadam out. We, the US, have stepped in and done what everyone else SHOULD have done. For that matter, we should consider doing the same thing in a couple other nations that have been preforming “ethnic cleansing.” We have the biggest sticks and the best trained military in the world – “With great power comes great responsibility.” The thing we need to work on is our long term game, and improving the survival rate for our troops.
Anyway – check it out. It’s awsome, and thought provoking.
