Day 27 of 365: Auto-Posting Doesn’t, Quinoa / Rice Sushi Mix

Summary: You know what’s nice about auto-posting solutions in WordPress / Social Media?  When it works.  Trying out a new way of doing makisushi! 🙂

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][custom_headline type=”center” level=”h2″ looks_like=”h2″ accent=”true”]Auto-Posting Doesn’t[/custom_headline][text_output]I like stuff that just works automatically for me.  For instance, publishing this blog – I write the entires, and I want it to just make them go live at the time of my choosing the next day.  And, then, I want it to post to Facebook, Google+, and Twitter.

This all seems pretty reasonable, right?  Unfortunately, the current setup seems to be failing this in many aspects.  Yesterday it posted, but, failed to post to Facebook.  Then, in it’s Google+ posting, it decided to embed all the markup for the post.

*SIGH*  Unfortunately, this isn’t something I’ve got time to hack around on, so, going to try a very simple solution to kill the markup issue, and try another trick to convince it to post to Facebook.  We’ll see how it goes :-)[/text_output][custom_headline type=”center” level=”h2″ looks_like=”h2″ accent=”true”]Quinoa / Rice Sushi Mix[/custom_headline][text_output]I have a thing for quinoa, and I have a thing for rice.  The other day it occurred to me to mix the two, getting the excellent nutrition profile of the quinoa with the more subtle flavor of rice (compared to quinoa, which has a very potent smell and taste – not bad, just potent – rice is a very subtle flavor.)

So, I made a batch and tried it out – half a cup of rice to 3/8ths of a cup of quinoa (quinoa has a different swelling factor than rice.)  And ya know what?  It’s pretty danged tasty!

Tonight’s experiment was to use the new quinoa / rice mix for sushi rice.  Add a little vinegar like I would for the sushi rice, and make ’em.  When cooked together, the quinoa tends to end up pretty mushy and sticky anyways, so it makes for a good binder.

Well, it worked pretty well – I ended up eating an entire roll of the stuff while I was making a batch of makisushi 🙂  It changes the texture a little bit, and is more dense than rice alone.  How’s it taste? Excellent!

I’m sure sushi purists would find my experiment to be an abomination, but, no one who eats anything I cook should expect purist cooking – I just follow what flavors I think will be great :-)[/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][line][custom_headline type=”center” level=”h2″ looks_like=”h2″ accent=”true”]Today’s Stats[/custom_headline][text_output]
